MMD streamlines fulfilment with Velocity
Fulfilment specialist Music and Media Distribution has started using Velocity, the web-based booking, labelling and tracking parcel shipments from NetDespatch, to manage deliveries during major promotional campaigns. During such events the company often has to handle very large volumes of orders to fulfil and deliver promotional items throughout the UK. It says it turned to NetDespatch to automate despatch processes, eliminate paperwork, streamline work, improve turnaround and provide traceability through to delivery. MMD uses Amtrak to handle deliveries, and has harnessed Amtrak's Online Despatch System (provided by NetDespatch) to import delivery information and print the appropriate bar code labels for despatch. The system also provides full postcode checking, address book management paper, electronic manifests, pick-lists and remote printing of barcoded parcel labels. MMD provide a complete order to delivery service for an array of products, built round its core business in CD duplication and packaging. Promotional campaigns are handled through its sister-company Promotional Handling, which processes orders, and holds stock and packaging (with gift wrapping where required). Consignments range from gift vouchers to bottles of wine and Plasma TV screens.
