RFID-ready crates from Linpac and Intellident

In response to what is believed to be a growing demand for "commoditised" RFID - practical systems that can slot readily into existing supply chain processes - materials handling giant Linpac has joined forces with Intellident to create a range of RFID-enabled multi-trip packaging crates.

The system combines Intellident's FastClick RFID tags with Linpac's returnable transit packaging products. Linpac says the full range of these products can now be fitted with the system, including both new and existing foldable and fixed plastic crates. In-store bulk display units can also be RFID-enabled.

Linpac acquired RFID specialist Intellident last year, and this system is the first conspicuous evidence of closer marketing cooperation between them.

The system aims to allows customers to streamline their tracking and product management operations. Linpac adds that there is a particular advantage to fitting FastClick tags to new RTP products, since this it allows users to tailor packaging to fit their existing tracking and monitoring systems more specifically to RFID requirements.

Intellident's snap-in packaged FastClick tags can be applied at the point of manufacture or retrofitted to existing assets in the field. They are available in a range of frequencies, including HF and the latest Gen2 UHF products. All are provided in the same form factor, making it easier for users to pick the most appropriate version for any given application.
