Toy industry fulfilment specialist expands by 40 per cent

CPD Logistics, a fulfilment company with special expertise in the toy market, has increased its resources significantly by buying two new two warehouses of 100,000 sq ft and 60,000 sq ft respectively on a site adjacent to its Wellesbourne headquarters. The vendor was Astral Developments Ltd.

The company says the £10 million development is part of an expansion drive by its parent, Amethyst Group, which is part of the Japanese trading and technology giant Itochu. Amethyst's consumer products division has its headquarters at Wellesbourne, and concentrates on the toy industry, consumer and leisure products, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

Established CDP clients include Bandai UK Ltd, Leapfrog, Vivid Imaginations, Ravensburger, Nikko UK, Paul Lamond Games, MAM and Zak Designs. In the past year these have been joined by Smoby, Famosa, Gibson Games and Wesco.

According to CDP managing director Steve Booker: "This significantly enhances the space and the service we can provide to the toys and leisure trade, and increases our current capacity by 40 per cent."
