Berry Bros picks Maginus for retail and wholesale management

Berry Bros & Rudd, a UK-based specialist wine merchant, is to implement a business solution from Maginus, the multi-channel fulfilment software specialist, in its Irish subsidiary in a bid to boost sales across both retail and wholesale channels.

The Irish operation sells wines through a retail outlet in Dublin, as well as over the phone and via the web. It has also been building up an extensive wholesale trade with hotels, restaurants and wine cellars. It aims to double turnover within a few years.

Initially Berry Bros will be using a combined point of sale and back-office solution from Maginus, which will be applied across all sales channels. Later it plans to launch a second phase, which will aim specifically at improving and promoting web sales.

Jessica Lavin, general manager for Berry Bros & Rudd in Ireland, says the features of the Maginus solution that appealed included its dedicated wine trade functionality (including en primeur management), its duty and rates handling, and the company's track record.

'The new systems will enable us to process more orders, make fewer errors and eliminate duplication because it is totally integrated,' she says, adding: 'No one else in Ireland has a system like this so we think this will give us a competitive edge.'
