Parcelnet, the home delivery organisation in the Otto group, aims to become the first in its field to offer a pan-European parcel to consumer delivery network, according to UK managing director Carole Woodhead.

'Our plan to become the UK's first courier delivery solution with a true European capability,' she says, adding: 'We are already piloting a cross-border service with a number of clients, and hope to go live with this unique service by the end of the year.'

Woodhead says: 'The Otto Group distribution companies handle over 22 per cent of all consumer deliveries across Europe, so this is an obvious move for us.'

There will apparently be some structural changes behind the scenes as Parcelnet moves to a system in which it is managed as part of an overall European holding business. However, Carole Woodhead remains in place as MD, and Parcelnet in the UK will continue to trade as usual.
