Quicker sorting, same speed

FKI Logistex has announced a 'sliding-shoe' sorter that is said to achieve the industry's highest throughput rate – up to 24,000 cartons per hour, compared with the industry norm of 12,900 cartons per hour.

The new system, the new UniSort XV, uses FKI Logistex' advanced UniSort MXT software and vhswEDGE merging technologies to achieve an increase in system throughput without the need to increase system speed.

The UniSort XV features automated calibration, monitoring and diagnostic testing which monitors and manages sortation systems. The company says this simplifies maintenance procedures and reduces energy consumption by ensuring that the system runs at optimal efficiency.

Multi-speed operation allows distribution and manufacturing facilities to adjust sorter speed to meet changes in demand, effectively lowering the overall energy costs and reducing wear and tear on the equipment.
