Rapid mobile application development

If you're developing a proof of delivery or similar application for your transport operation, there can be real appeal in designing the software for the mobile end of the operation yourself in-house. But often this is too complex a task for typical users, and can take too long.

If that's your perception, you might want to check out a new rapid-deployment mobile development product called Workflow DynMX from Aeromark, a company which (unusually) specialises in both vehicle tracking and mobile job management.

The company says it can produce applications that are 'absolutely like bespoke software', but in half the project time taken by traditional methods. Generally the company itself will design the first batch of programs to get you going with the concept, but then your own IT team or even users should be able to expand on them.

Remarkably, the development environment is hosted externally, yet uses interactive drag-and-drop techniques to enable users to build PDA-based screens on a PC display. Aeromark has created a new binary protocol to speed data transfer. F&E seen a demonstration, and it really works.

The end result should be a system that speeds up and streamlines the movement of job data to and from mobiles. Store-and-forward, always-on and push data communications are all supported.
