Sportsshoes.com appoints Parcelnet to handle deliveries
![]() Sportsshoes.com, one of the UK's first and best-established online and mail order sports retailers, has outsourced its home deliveries to Parcelnet, the Otto UK subsidiary. The Parcelnet operation will include collecting consignments from Sportsshoes.com's warehouse at Shipley and despatching them from the Parcelnet hub at Bradford to its 20 operating sites across the UK. Final delivery will be handled by Parcelnet's network of over 7,000 locally-based 'lifestyle' couriers. According to Sportsshoes managing director Victoria Bannister: 'We were one of the first sports retailers to diversify into mail order and then launch an e-commerce web site, and we have now been successfully meeting our online customers' needs for over nine years. 'Getting the delivery right is a key part of this, and we feel that Parcelnet's unique courier network will provide us with a flexible, high-quality doorstep delivery, combined with a friendly and local approach.' Mike Antwoon, Parcelnet's national sales manager, points out that by using a service such as this, smaller 'niche' retailers can offer big-company benefits such as a fully tracked solution and Saturday delivery as standard. In addition to its online and mail order business, Sportsshoes.com runs a retail store in Bradford that is said to be the largest sports shoe retail outlet in the world.
